Otto Bock enters into a cooperation agreement with the German Stroke Foundation.

The Duderstadt company Otto Bock HealthCare GmbH and the German Stroke Foundation in Gütersloh have entered into a cooperation agreement for improved rehabilitation and aftercare of stroke patients in Berlin under the motto “Be Strong!”. The partnership agreement extends over several years. “This is an outstanding opportunity that allows a company and a non-profit organisation to work together in an innovative manner,” says Dr. Brigitte Mohn, chairwoman of the executive board at the German Stroke Foundation.
Prof. Hans Georg Näder, chairman and CEO of the Otto Bock Group, confirms that this cooperation agreement offers numerous advantages for both parties. A commercial enterprise like Otto Bock can learn a lot from non-profit organisations, says Näder. The initial focus will be on research. A so-called situation analysis will be used to develop the relevant factors required to improve rehabilitation and care.

Mobility rehabilitation will be a major point considered in this analysis. Among other things, the partners will investigate how efficient and up to date modern neurological rehabilitation is, the role of innovative products, and the popularity of new therapy methods and products among users. According to Dr. Brigitte Mohn, stroke patients will mainly be interested in the concrete results of the study. During an interview, Mohn indicated that the study results will be communicated to a large audience in order to benefit the greatest possible number of people.
The medical technology company Otto Bock HealthCare is the leading supplier of innovative products for people with restricted mobility, and, as a recognized system provider of high-quality, technologically advanced products and services, it is also the global leader in orthopaedic technology. The German Stroke Foundation is an independent non-profit organisation dedicated to the objectives set out in its bylaws – preventing strokes and contributing to improved care for stroke patients. The German Stroke Foundation views itself as a primary contact for issues related to vascular disease and strokes in particular.
