Residual limb bedding is an important factor in the quality of a prosthesis. Not only the fit and design of the socket are essential for wearer comfort, but also the materials used. In today's provision of fittings for persons with physical disabilities, innovative materials for orthopaedic applications have become daily routine. Polytol® is one of these innovative materials. The laminated, flexible inner socket made of this PU resin is a new alternative to flexible inner sockets made of thermoplastic or silicone, or to laminated sockets made of Orthocryl®.
The innovative polyurethane lamination resin system Polytol® is a colourless, transparent, high-quality polyurethane-based three-component resin. Prosthetic sockets made of this aliphatic PU lamination resin system are skin-friendly and are noted for their long lasting elasticity in the defined areas compared to acrylic and epoxy resins. Because of its chemical composition, our PU resin is particularly suitable for lamination work dealing with the production of flexible prosthetic sockets.
Field of application
Polytol® is used for the manufacturing of flexible inner sockets for prostheses. The laminated, flexible inner socket made of Polytol® is an alternative to flexible inner sockets made of thermoplastic or silicone, or laminated sockets made of Orthocryl®. PU resin is particularly well suited for the prosthetic fitting of transfemoral amputees with short residual limbs (max. residual limb length approx. 15cm).
