  • Special feature: Ergonomically Balanced Stride (EBS) for extremely safe, comfortable, and natural gait
  • Multi-axis construction improves ground clearance
  • Various walking speeds possible
  • Recommended for mobility levels 2 and 3

You want to be able to walk safely and comfortably with your prosthesis. Your gait pattern should be as similar as possible to the natural, healthy model. With the 3R60 EBS Knee Joint, you are well on your way. When you examine the natural gait pattern closely, the following becomes evident: The human knee joint flexes slightly as soon as the heel impacts the ground. This important process is the basis for the functionality of the 3R60.

Especially Safe and Comfortable Stance Phase

EBS stands for Ergonomically Balanced Stride (German: elastische Beugesicherung). During heel impact, the knee can be flexed up to 15° in a controlled and springy manner, just as with a natural knee. You step down comfortably and your knee security is improved. This also makes it possible for you to walk more comfortably on uneven surfaces and slight inclines - a unique feature among polycentric (multi-axis) knee joints.  Your gait pattern will appear smoother and will  come closer to the natural model. And because of the more physiological movement, the residual limb, hips, and spine are simultaneously relieved. Subsequent damages are minimized. The advantages of the EBS function also become apparent during longer periods of standing on the prosthesis.

Flexible in the Swing Phase

You cannot rush with the 3R60. However, it offers outstanding flexibility to prosthesis wearers with a mobility level of 2 or 3: Whether you want to buy something just before store closing, or take a long, leisurely walk – the multi-axis knee joint makes a large range of walking speeds possible for you. In addition, it is especially easy for you to initiate each new step. This is achieved with an innovative hydraulic system that controls the behavior of the knee joint during the swing phase. The dampening values are based on gait analysis investigations. Due to the polycentric construction, you enjoy greater ground clearance during the swing phase so that your leg prosthesis can swing forward unobstructed.

High Level of Wearer Comfort

We improved the patented construction - which has proven itself thousands of times - even further in the new generation of the EBS knee joint. The model is smaller and, with a weight of 845 grams, also lighter than its predecessor. This also contributes to your comfort and safety.
This prosthetic  knee joint received the reddot design award – an international seal of quality for design quality – in 2005.

Four modular adapters are available for the joint, so that all amputation heights can be accommodated. You can get a detailed overview of the innovative technology of the 3R60 in this PDF file. (Link)
