In the category “Digital Media for Patients/ End Users”, the Ottobock website asserted itself against numerous competitors. The website www.living-with-michelangelo.com presents the upper limb prosthesis system using a novel approach and offers an interactive experience for visitors.

The past, the present and the future of the Bötzow area brought together 7000 Berliners for three days. The great folk festival atmosphere in the superb spring weather was supported by 400 Eichsfelders, who had arrived in a caravan of buses from Duderstadt.

Innovation at Bötzow—the Ottobock Future Lab
The revitalisation of the grounds of the former Bötzow brewery sets a strong creative tone. In the presence of governing mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit and district mayor Matthias Köhne, Professor Hans Georg Näder today (Thursday, 25 April 2013) illustrated how Bötzow can become a new space for ideas for creative people of the city. Wowereit called it a “wonderful idea. We are excited about what we have seen so far. This is where the future can still be shaped.”

The focus of President Joachim Gauck's visit to Ottobock in Duderstadt was how German high-tech products restore mobility to physically disabled persons around the world. Accompanied by First Lady Daniela Schadt, Prime Minister of Lower Saxony Stephan Weil and his wife Rosemarie Kerkow-Weil, he was shown around the company by owner Professor Hans Georg Näder on Thursday (11 April 2013) and spoke with people who use Ottobock medical devices.

Awards for three product designs
Ottobock impressed the 37 experts of the jury at this year's “red dot award: product design 2013” with its sport prosthesis, 1C63 Triton Low Profile prosthetic foot and Patella Pro knee orthosis. Among a total of 4,662 entries, these medical technical devices were selected both for their innovative concept and their high design quality. The award ceremony for the internationally recognised seal of quality will be held in the Aalto Theatre in Essen on 1 July.

A year before the start of the 11th Winter Paralympics in Sochi (7-16 March 2014), Ottobock has named its team. It brings together 30 selected orthopaedic technicians from eleven countries. They will not fight for medals of their own, but will assist athletes and ensure their success. Experience shows that there will be plenty of work on the athletic equipment, because delivering top performance poses an absolute challenge to man and material.

The German MedTech Group acquires 80% of Finnish Super Yacht Builder Baltic Yachts.
Baltic Yachts was founded in 1973 in Ostrobothnia on the West coast of Finland – the Yard focuses on tailor-made high performance and high quality yachts, combining safe and easy handling. Baltic employs 175 people. The 2012 turnover was around 30 Million Euro. Ottobock is a family owned global MedTech Company with more than 6000 employees in 49 countries and Headquarters in Duderstadt. The global market leader in technical orthopaedics has since many years Carbon Fibre mobility products in its expanding portfolio.

IPC and Ottobock promote the internationalisation of a young sport
Ice sledge hockey is a high-speed team sport that is fascinating for audiences too. Yet it is only being played in 15 countries around the world. In order to improve this situation, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and its partner Ottobock launched the “Equipment Loaner Programme” on 8 March 2013. Ottobock provided 30 Arctic Flash sledges.


Between 2013 and 2015, the production area will be expanded by 7,500 square metres in project “Werk 2”. Another 12,500 square metres of storage area will be added to the central logistics hub.

Investments of 35 million euros from 2013 to 2015
The family-owned business based in Duderstadt, Lower Saxony (Germany), is planning extensive expansion of its production in the areas of Prosthetic Feet and Socket Technologies and of the central logistics hub for its 49 foreign branches located throughout the world.
