The ankle joints are used in lower leg plastic orthoses. They offer the technician many options to create lightweight, functional orthoses for children and adults.

The ankle joints 17M1/M2 were designed for use in plastic lower leg orthoses. They offer the orthopaedic technician many possibilities to manufacture light, functional orthoses for children and adults which can be individually adapted to your personal needs.
The 17M1 is a so-called dual-function ankle joint. This means that flexion of the foot up or down can be supported or restricted depending on the clinical picture. If you suffer from foot lifter weakness, for example, the foot is raised while the leg swings forward. The tip of the foot can no longer drag across the floor and therefore the risk of tripping is reduced. Thus you no longer have to concentrate on every individual step; you become more mobile and can have a more active life once again. At the same time, compensating movements such as exaggerated raising of the hip and leg are no longer required in order to walk safely.
The 17M2 is a free-moving ankle joint. This means that you can move the foot up and down normally. At the same time, the 17M2 stabilizes your ankle joint and prevents your foot from twisting sideways. Therefore the 17M2 offers you a high level of safety, particularly in case of pronounced ankle instability. You are always supported optimally by the joint, and become more active.
