The servo-supported auxiliary drive is operated via the push rings. Highly sensitive sensors measure the manual power applied to the drive wheels and electronically increase it.

The E-Support Auxiliary Drive was conceived especially for the requirements of patients who are unable to walk or have a walking impediment, and who have low arm power, improving their mobility. The E-Support assists independent locomotion in the wheelchair by increasing the patient’s own strength. Activity and circulation are promoted due to the fact that arm movement continues to be required.
The servo-supported auxiliary drive for manual wheelchairs is operated via push rings. It operates during driving and during braking, so that the wheelchair does not accelerate beyond six km/h. Highly sensitive sensors measure the manual power applied to the drive wheels and electronically increase it.
If the drive system is not needed for a period of time, the wheelchair can be modified in just a few simple steps. The wheelchair can be folded to its regular size and stowed easily, even with the adaptive drive wheels.
We offer the E-Support in two versions: With the first version, the arm power of the user is increased by a factor of 1 ½. With the second version, the E-Support provides 75% of the power and increases the arm power of the user by a factor of three.
The E-Support is not only suitable for manual wheelchairs made by Otto Bock, but also for many other makes. For possible adaptations, please see this PDF file (link 646k65).
