Hybrid Prostheses

Hybrid prostheses combine two different control types in one system and are used for high upper extremity amputations such as above-elbow amputations.

With higher amputations, such as above-elbow amputations, the myoelectric control for the hand functions can be combined with a cable control system for the elbow functions. This type of prosthesis is known as a hybrid prosthesis because it combines two types of control in the same prosthesis.
