Helping hands for Ukraine

Local treatment

Working closely with international aid organisations, Ottobock has succeeded in realising various service centre projects and sending mobile containers to the war zone in a very short space of time.

In order to simultaneously meet the increased demand for prostheses, Ottobock founded a foreign subsidiary in Ukraine in 2023, which is being gradually expanded in terms of logistics and personnel. Among other things, it offers storage options for so-called fast-moving products.

Training programs for technicians

A further focus is on training and education programmes for O&P professionals to specifically address the shortage of skilled workers in Ukraine. Ottobock works closely with Ukrainian non-profit organisations such as Superhumans in this endeavour and trains specialists, for example for the Superhumans Center in Lviv. Founded in April 2023, it has a trauma ward for war victims and a prosthetics centre with a rehabilitation unit.

"I want to deepen my knowledge and improve the quality of my work. It is the only thing we can do for the disabled in our home country."

Simple fitting solution for war injured

With the Skeo Up Daily Assist passive functional aid, Ottobock developed a new product in 2023 for rapid deployment in crisis regions. Applied like a liner, it has the functions of a passive hand prosthesis and is particularly suitable for personal hygiene.

The functional aid Skeo Up Daily Assist is especially well suited for use in wet areas.

The unpredictable situation in Ukraine remains a major challenge. It’s incredible what we’ve been able to achieve together with so many helping hands.
