Agilium Freestep 2.0

We developed the Agilium Freestep 2.0 for the treatment of unicompartmental arthrosis of the knee. It is not applied to the knee, but to the foot and lower leg. The Agilium Freestep 2.0 alters the load line of the knee, thus providing targeted relief for the damaged cartilage in the knee joint. The load line describes the point where the body weight primarily impacts the cartilage.

Flexible calf shell

The calf shell on the Agilium Freestep 2.0 is extremely flexible and can adapt to various leg shapes.

Slim design

The design of the Agilium Freestep 2.0 is exceptionally modern for a brace. It combines lightweight elements with ultimate functionality.

Force-transferring foot stirrup

The foot stirrup transfers the weight to the lower leg. This relieves the knee joint.

Sole design

Thanks to its 2⁄3 sole, technicians can adjust the Agilium Freestep 2.0 with scissors rather than by sanding it. This simplifies the fitting process in hospitals.

Functionality

For therapy of knee arthrosis

Biomechanical mode of action of the Agilium Freestep for osteoarthritis of the knee in the medial compartment

Movements in the upper and lower ankle joint are spanned by a rigid component of the brace in the frontal plane. The eversion movement of the foot is thereby limited. This results in a shifting of the center of pressure (CoP) and the point of application of the ground reaction force (GRF) towards the lateral edge of the foot. This lateralizing effect on the course of the force vector of the GRF results in a shortening of the lever arm to the center of the knee, which decreases the external frontal varus torque acting on the knee. The lateral counter-support of the brace leads to the secondary effect of decreasing the load on the medial knee compartment. This also results in a shortening of the lever arm and thereby decreases the varus angle of the knee joint in the frontal plane.

FAQS

Answers for you

What shoes should I wear with the Agilium Freestep?

We recommend sturdy footwear that extends a maximum of 5 cm above the ankle, ideally with a removable inner sole. Hiking sandals are also suitable. However, shoes with a heel should generally be avoided if you have osteoarthritis.

Why can’t the brace slip?

The brace is worn in your shoe, which guarantees a secure hold. The brace is also fixed to the leg with a skin-friendly strap.

How long do I need to wear the brace each day?

You can wear the brace for the whole day – but particularly when doing things that put stress on your joints and during activities that cause pain.

Is the brace suitable for sports?

Generally, yes. Water and contact sports are an exception, however. These types of sports should be avoided to prevent placing your fellow players at risk of injury.

How will I be able to tell that the brace is helping me?

The brace helps to relieve pain. This can increase your mobility and enable you to walk for longer or cover greater distances.
