Adolfo Almarza

At the age of 12 he had a bus accident, returning from a basketball championship with his friends. In that accident he lost both legs.

Extraordinary downhill cyclist

Four month after his accident in 2000, in which he lost both of his legs, he started walking again. During his rehabilitation therapy he also began to ride a bike and that was when his passion for biking arouse.

He became an extreme sportsman athlete, loves to compete at extreme bike races like the 500 kilometre XC Ultra Marathon and until now he is the only professional downhill cyclist in the world with two prosthetic legs.

Inspires people professionally by holding speeches

He is the initiator of professional Para cycling in Chile, always focussing on inspiring other people showing what is possible with an amputation. Thus, he functions as a professional motivational speaker for more than seven years. In 2019, he competed at the Parapan American Games in Lima and finished on sixth place in the 3000 metres Men's Individual Pursuit C1-3.

Now, he is aiming to qualify for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo and advertise Para cycling even more in Chile.
