Responsible social action and economic success have gone hand in hand at our company since it was founded in 1919. Sustainability was and continues to be the foundation for our company’s successful development. Environmental standards, social responsibility and good governance are vital to us.
Transparency and openness
We place great emphasis on open dialogue with our stakeholders. We create transparency by publishing annual reports on our sustainability goals and the projects we put in place to implement them.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at Ottobock
As a signatory to the UN Global Compact, Ottobock is also committed to the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The United Nations developed the SDGs as a national and international blueprint to promote sustainable economic, social and environmental change by 2030.
Here at Ottobock, we are ready and willing to play our part in this change and have integrated the SDGs in our sustainability strategy for this purpose. After conducting an extensive analysis of our key sustainability themes, our values and our strategies, we identified six SDGs which are of particular relevance to Ottobock. Our aim is to conduct our business in such a way as to help the world achieve these goals.

CSR and leadership
Corporate social responsibility is part of our management process: it helps the company scrutinise routines from a critical perspective, spark innovations and ensure our success as a business. But our mission extends far beyond simply meeting standards and minimum legal requirements. At Ottobock, we integrate active responsibility into our management approach.

Based on 10 universal principles and what are known as the Sustainable Development Goals, the UN Global Compact pursues the vision of an inclusive, sustainable global economy that benefits all people, communities and markets, both today and tomorrow.
Protecting the climate and our environment
Because we are a manufacturing company, we bear special responsibility for protecting the climate and our environment. That’s why we continually review our production processes and look for ways to make them more sustainable. Our approaches extend from end-to-end energy concepts, to the responsible use of natural resources, to reducing the materials we use (which in turn means less waste).

Certificates, CE declarations and information
Ottobock manufacturing sites are certified according to DIN EN ISO 13485. Up-to-date certificates that document the effective introduction and maintenance of QM systems can be downloaded here. The CE declaration of conformity confirms that Ottobock products comply with the statutory requirements of the medical devices directive 93/42/EEC.
