25 Tabaluga wheelchairs for "A Heart for Children”
Peter Maffay announces donation by Ottobock
As part of the a charity event called "A Heart for Children", broadcasted by ZDF, one of Germany’s biggest public TV programmes, the Ottobock Global Foundation donated 25 wheelchairs for children and teens in Syria. A big demand was indicated by a project partner of the charity "A Heart for Children”.
"It is a matter close to my heart to help children in need. Many boys and girls have suffered serious injuries during the war, are traumatised and depend on medical aids. It is important that we support them and that we do not leave them alone in their time of need", explained Näder about his commitment. He himself founded the Ottobock Global Foundation in 2015, which provides prostheses, orthoses and wheelchairs for children worldwide. "Children in Need - Help for Syria" is one of the major projects of the foundation’s operations.
The design of the wheelchairs will feature the famous comic dragon Tabaluga. Näder and his long-standing friend rock musician Peter Maffay agreed on the design last week at the Tabaluga House in Duderstadt.
On Saturday evening, Maffay performed a song from the Tabaluga story at a charity event. After his performance he announced the donation of 25 children wheelchairs amounting to a total value of 110,000 €.
Numerous German and international celebrities took part in the TV show to raise funds for a variety of aid projects for children in need. A total of 18,484,573 € were raised for a good cause.
