Ottobock ambassador

Ali Jawad

Great Britain's Para powerlifter Ali Jawad was born without legs. He always has been determined to show the world that anything is possible.

Judoka to become outstanding powerlifter

Jawad was a talented judoka in his early teens, when friends encouraged him to try out powerlifting at the age of 16. It was quickly recognised that he had great potential to compete at an elite level. Just one year later this was proven when he won the silver medal in the Junior World Championship and gold in the Para European Powerlifting Championships in 2007.

“Why be the best when you can be the greatest?”

Never giving up

In 2009, shortly after the Paralympic Games in Beijing, Ali was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. But he never thought about giving up fighting to continuing his sport. At the Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016 his hard training and diet payed off: he won the silver medal.
