For over a decade, Maren Sønåsen Romundstad held onto one dream: returning to the mountains and hiking trails she once loved.

At just 12 years old, Maren was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) caused by nerve damage. The condition led to drop foot, muscle weakness, impaired control, and both motor and sensory challenges in her legs- most severely in her right leg.

Everyday activities that once felt effortless suddenly became difficult. Uneven terrain, longer distances, and time spent outdoors turned into challenges. The lifestyle she loved felt out of reach- but Maren never let go of the hope that one day she would return.

After more than ten years, that moment finally came.

With the support of the C-Brace, Maren was able to complete the hike she had dreamed about for so long.
- Being able to hike again means so much to me. It’s a feeling of freedom I’ve missed for a very long time.
Today, Maren is living an active life and pursuing her goal of becoming a medical doctor-inspired by her own journey.

For Maren, it’s about more than just mobility. It’s about rediscovering freedom, reconnecting with nature, and returning to the moments and experiences that make life feel whole again.
