3R93 - Knee prosthetics

Modular Brake Knee Joint with Lock

The modern therapy knee joint

We have developed a knee joint especially for your therapy after the amputation, supporting initial walking and standing exercises in the course of your interim prosthetic fitting. Until you receive your final prosthetic fitting, the 3R93 provides valuable support while you get accustomed to your leg prosthesis.

We have developed a knee joint especially for your therapy after the amputation, supporting initial walking and standing exercises in the course of your interim prosthetic fitting. Until you receive your final prosthetic fitting, the 3R93 provides valuable support while you get accustomed to your leg prosthesis.

The knee joint features straightforward adjustment and functionality that can be adapted to your individual need for safety. You activate the knee flexion required for sitting down yourself by using a pull cable. Approved for a body weight up to 125 kilograms, the joint is suitable for prosthesis wearers with low to moderate mobility.

The visually attractive design of the knee joint was recognised with the product design award in 2012.

Functionality

Adjustable braking effect and optimal stance-swing ratio

When the locking function is permanently deactivated, knee stability is achieved through the brake mechanism that blocks the joint in the flexion direction under load. The brake activates when a load is applied to the heel and stabilises the prosthesis during the entire stance phase. The brake also offers the desired safety when stepping down with a slightly flexed knee joint. Adjustment of the braking effect is straightforward and reproducible (Fig. 1).

To initiate the swing phase, the user relieves the load on the prosthesis, which deactivates the brake. The integrated extension assist spring, which can be optimally adjusted from the outside (Fig. 2), controls the pendulum motion of the prosthetic lower leg.
