Genu Arexa PCL

After a posterior cruciate ligament tear in the knee, the Genu Arexa PCL supports your knee movements when you place weight on it and during periods of rest and recovery – exactly as you require. This is possible thanks to a spring mechanism: the orthosis features a special calf pad, the Dynamic Pad. It adjusts the pressure on the calf at every knee angle. As a result, you always receive exactly the level of support that is appropriate for the respective situation from a medical perspective. Once the orthosis has been adjusted for your specific injury, the Genu Arexa PCL ensures a controlled healing process while giving you a more steady gait and confidence in your own mobility.

Dynamic Pad

The soft, cushioned calf pad dynamically adapts to every leg position thanks to an integrated spring.

Comfortable to put on

The Genu Arexa PCL is comfortably applied to the leg from the front, and is easy to put on and take off thanks to the hook-and-loop closures.

Self-adapting plastic shells

When putting on the straps, the flexible plastic shells adapt to the individual leg contour. This enhances wearer comfort.

Support after a posterior cruciate ligament tear

The knee brace was developed especially for posterior cruciate ligament tear therapy.

Benefits at a glance

Genu Arexa PCL – dynamic and stabilising

Sophisticated design
Sophisticated design

The soft, padded plastic shells adapt to the contours of your leg as soon as they are worn. Combined with sophisticated positioning of the shell elements and straps, the Genu Arexa PCL ensures a comfortable fit with the greatest possible freedom of movement.

Dynamic positioning
Dynamic positioning

Thanks to an integrated spring mechanism, the Dynamic Pad exerts the correct pressure on the calf in every leg position. Once it is correctly adjusted, the lower leg is dynamically supported in every position.

Easy to apply and remove
Easy to apply and remove

The brace is very easy to put on and take off. Place it on the leg from the front and fasten the straps from top to bottom, down to the Dynamic Pad on the calf. Then set the dial on the pad to the position marked by the O&P professional and fasten the final, bottom strap. Observe the information in the instructions for use.

Specially designed for use after a posterior cruciate ligament tear
Specially designed for use after a posterior cruciate ligament tear

After a posterior cruciate ligament tear, the leg needs to be extended and elevated as often as possible. The Genu Arexa PCL ensures that regulated pressure, which is important for the healing process, is exerted on the lower leg in this position as well.

Functionality

Dynamic positioning after a posterior cruciate ligament tear

Posterior cruciate ligament tear

Generally, a posterior cruciate ligament tear is caused by the application of a powerful external force, for example, due to accidents, contact sports or heavy falls. Tearing of the ligament leads to recurring posterior displacement of the lower leg. The leg loses stability.

FAQS

Answers for you

Should I also wear the Genu Arexa PCL at night?

This is recommended since you are less able to control your movements at night. Talk to your doctor to determine when you can stop wearing the brace at night.

What exactly is the Dynamic Pad?

The calf pad has a small, integrated spring mechanism, with spring tension that responds to movements (= dynamic). The spring thus ensures that the pressure on the lower leg adjusts itself exactly as required for every leg position.

How does a knee brace help after a cruciate ligament tear?

For one thing, it prevents unwanted knee movements. For another, it stabilises your knee and ensures controlled weight bearing and movement of the knee that is recommended from a medical perspective.

How do I clean the knee brace?

  • First, remove all textile components from the brace.
  • Fasten the hook-and-loop closures.
  • Hand-wash the textile components at a water temperature of 30 °C with neutral detergent.
  • Allow the components to air dry and avoid direct heat (sunlight, stove, radiator).
  • Wipe the plastic elements with a damp cloth.

Can I change the settings of the brace?

Please only adjust the straps and hook-and-loop closures. If the other settings of the brace aren’t comfortable for you, please contact your O&P professional or doctor.
