WalkOn Flex

People with permanent drop foot depend on a device that lifts their foot while walking.

This is precisely what the WalkOn Flex does. It helps to elevate the foot during the swing phase, making the gait safer again while reducing the risk of stumbling and falling. The tip of the foot no longer gets caught as easily on small obstacles or uneven ground.

Thanks to the material (glass and carbon fibre composite) and special design, the WalkOn Flex is particularly suitable if you are looking for more flexibility in the ankle joint and knee. If you have sufficient residual musculature – your doctor or O&P professional will provide you with detailed advice regarding this – the WalkOn Flex will give you good support, especially on uneven surfaces.

Available in sizes for children and adults.

Lower leg shell

The calf pad is located on the lower leg shell of the WalkOn Flex. It can be easily applied to the leg with a hook-and-loop closure.

Coil spring

The coil spring connects the lower leg shell to the foot component. It permits higher flexibility at heel strike and promotes a dynamic rollover while walking, with fewer restrictions in the ankle joint.

Midfoot

The area of the midfoot is especially stable and provides support in the stance phase.

Foot component

The foot component ensures the flexible rollover of the foot while walking.

FAQS

Answers for you

How do I put on the WalkOn Flex?

We recommend that you place the orthosis into the shoe first and then insert your foot. Then you can simply fasten the hook-and-loop closures.

Do I need a special shoe for the WalkOn Flex?

No, but you should select a sturdy shoe with a reinforced heel. It is important that the orthosis fits firmly so that it moves as little as possible. We also recommend a heel height of 10 mm; alternatively this can be determined by your technician. An additional pair of shoes should of course have the same heel height.

Is it possible to take part in sport with the WalkOn Flex?

Yes, in fact it is recommended that you are active. Speak to your orthopaedic technician to get their advice on which sports are the most beneficial and how to make the best use of your orthosis. You should however avoid extreme and abrupt movements.

How do I care for the WalkOn Flex?

The orthosis should be wiped regularly using water and a mild cleaning agent. We recommend washing the pad at least twice a week (machine washable at 40 °C).

Can I get extra pads for the WalkOn Flex?

Replacement pads can of course be ordered through your O&P professional, who will adapt them so they are appropriate for your personal needs.

Can I drive a car with the WalkOn Flex?

It is not possible to make any specific recommendation. You must be able to safely control any vehicle for which you require a driving licence and insurance, or which is used in traffic. This ability when wearing a WalkOn Flex is determined on a case-by-case basis. You are required to observe national and state laws.

WalkOn

The ankle-foot orthosis is made of a modern carbon fibre prepreg material which is very lightweight. A carbon spring at the back extends from the Achilles tendon to the calf. The WalkOn provides support during walking for users with residual musculature. The orthosis releases previously stored energy at toe-off so the gait becomes smoother. The ankle joint is stabilised at the same time.

WalkOn Reaction

People with permanent drop foot depend on a device that lifts their foot while walking.

That is precisely what the WalkOn Reaction does. The carbon orthosis helps to lift the foot during the swing phase, making the gait safer while reducing the risk of stumbling and falling. The tip of the foot no longer gets caught as easily on small obstacles or uneven ground.

Thanks to its special design, the WalkOn Reaction supports the knee joint as well. When the foot lowering musculature is impaired as well, you also benefit from the high energy return of the orthosis, which is activated during the rollover motion of the foot. This lets you walk more naturally again.

WalkOn Reaction plus

People with permanent dorsiflexor weakness depend on a medical aid that lifts their foot while walking.

This is precisely what the WalkOn Reaction plus does. It helps lift the foot during the swing phase, so that the gait becomes safer while the risk of stumbling and falling is reduced. The tip of the foot no longer gets caught as easily on small obstacles or uneven ground.

Like the WalkOn Reaction, the WalkOn Reaction plus also supports the knee joint thanks to its special design, but offers an even higher degree of stiffness. When the foot lowering musculature is impaired as well, you benefit from the high energy return of the orthosis, which is activated during the rollover motion of the foot. Ankle-foot orthosis

The 28U90 lower leg orthosis from Ottobock is used for drop foot (peroneal weakness). It lifts the forefoot during walking and simultaneously limits foot flexion in the upper ankle joint, in the direction of the sole. The thin-walled polypropylene construction not only provides effective support, but is also comfortably lightweight. In addition, the long sole ensures exact guidance of the foot along with good pressure distribution. The included calf pads and closure straps improve wearer comfort and permit flexible adjustment.

The toes can no longer be properly lifted in this case, so there is a risk of stumbling. The Malleo Neurexa pro is an orthosis with a foot lifting effect that can also counteract the effects of a developing spasticity thanks to its special alignment.

The orthosis can be worn during the day, at night and even without footwear.

GoOn

The GoOn acts as an entry-level option for users with minor limitations of the dorsiflexion musculature, helping them to become familiar with wearing a device and the benefits it offers. The AFO helps hold the user to hold their foot in a neutral position. It makes walking safer and prevents tripping.

What's more, the GoOn can also be worn without shoes. Thanks to the spring on the arch of the foot, the sole of the shoe remains untouched. This allows the user to wear practically any lace-up shoe, and even wear shoes with different heel heights. The spring filaments mean that the lifting force can be adjusted as required: the foot is gently guided and held in a torsionally stable manner.
