Ankle-foot orthoses
People with permanent drop foot depend on a device that elevates their foot while walking.
That is precisely what the WalkOn Reaction lateral does. The carbon orthosis helps to elevate the foot during the swing phase, making the gait safer while reducing the risk of stumbling and falling. The tip of the foot no longer gets caught as easily on small obstacles or uneven ground.
In addition, the WalkOn Reaction lateral supports the knee joint thanks to its special design. When the foot lowering muscles are impaired as well, you also benefit from the high energy return of the orthosis, which is activated during the rollover motion of the foot. This lets you walk more naturally again.
Exterior spring
During the rollover movement, the exterior spring releases the energy stored at heel strike.
Frontal support element
Thanks to its frontal support element, the WalkOn Reaction lateral not only elevates the foot but also supports the knee joint.
Foot component
The foot component ensures that the user can flexibly roll over their foot while walking.
Lower leg shell with shin pad
The shin pad is on the lower leg shell. It can be easily applied to the leg with a hook-and-loop closure.

WalkOn Reaction lateral – lightweight, stabilising, robust
The orthosis fits in any shoe that provides support. You only need to make sure that the shoe has a reinforced heel. To put on the orthosis, position the WalkOn Reaction lateral in the shoe and then slide your foot in
The WalkOn Reaction lateral is lightweight, slim and discreet under clothing. A shin pad makes it even more comfortable for you.
The WalkOn Reaction lateral enhances your safety by supporting and elevating your foot during the swing phase while walking. This reduces the risk of catching the tip of your foot on carpet edges or uneven ground, for example.
The WalkOn Reaction lateral promotes a largely physiological gait. Depending on your current phase in the gait cycle, the special orthosis design (frontal support element) supports knee extension and flexion. Your gait pattern becomes smoother.
The WalkOn Reaction lateral is especially robust. Its has proven its durability in tests and long-term functional testing. The adult sizes were tested for 2 million cycles (= steps), the child sizes for 1 million cycles (= steps).
Compensating movements can lead to signs of wear. The WalkOn Reaction lateral reduces this thanks to its high energy return. You walk more symmetrically because the orthosis stores energy at heel strike and releases it again during the rollover movement of the foot.

Answers for you
Can I get replacement pads for the WalkOn Reaction lateral?
Replacement pads can of course be ordered through your orthopaedic technician. He or she adapts the pads for you personally to ensure they fit.
Do I need a special shoe for the WalkOn Reaction lateral?
No, but you should select a sturdy shoe with a reinforced heel. It is important that the orthosis fits firmly so that it moves as little as possible. We also recommend a heel height of 10 mm; alternatively this can be determined by your technician. An additional pair of shoes should of course have the same heel height.
Is it possible to play sports with the WalkOn Reaction lateral?
Yes, in fact it is recommended that you are active. Speak to your orthopaedic technician to get their advice on which sports are the most beneficial and how to make the best use of your orthosis. You should however avoid extreme and abrupt movements.
Can I drive a car with the WalkOn Reaction lateral?
We can’t make any general statements regarding this. You must be able to safely control any vehicle for which you require a driving licence and insurance or which is used in traffic. Your ability to drive a car with a WalkOn Reaction lateral should be determined on an individual basis. You are required to observe national and state laws.
How do I put on the WalkOn Reaction lateral?
We recommend that you place the orthosis into the shoe first and then insert your foot. Then you can simply fasten the hook-and-loop closures.
How do I care for the WalkOn Reaction lateral?
The orthosis should be wiped regularly using water and a mild cleaning agent. All pads and closures are combined, and all textile components can be washed and replaced. We recommend washing the pad at least twice a week (machine washable at 40 °C).
