Say goodbye to pain
Lifestyle story: Heike
“As soon as I put on the Agilium, the pain in my knee gets better.” Heike, 49
For Heike, living with osteoarthritis meant that she had knee pain even on routine trips to the supermarket. The 49-year old developed osteoarthritis in her left knee four years ago after meniscus surgery, and it was made worse by having bowed legs. She kept putting off an operation, and wearing a brace around her knee seemed too complicated, in spite of her pain. Heike smiles now when she thinks back to the moment her O&P professional put the Agilium Freestep on her leg. The brace only extends from her foot to the outside of her lower leg and is about as light as a sandal. What about the other benefits of the Agilium Freestep? Heike says, “It’s easy to put on. When I wear it, the effect is instantaneous and the pain gets better. And, at the moment, the brace is saving me from having to have an operation.”
Thanks to the Agilium Freestep, Heike is mobile again in spite of osteoarthritis – whether she’s walking with her daughter in the woods or working as a tennis instructor at the edge of the court. The brace fits comfortably inside her shoe. Although she initially wore the Agilium Freestep for up to eight hours a day, she’s now down to an average of three hours, in part because her higher activity level has built up her muscles and made her stronger. “I’m really happy that I got this brace,” she says, “because it simply helps.”

Answers for you
How long do I need to wear the brace each day?
You can wear the brace for the whole day – but particularly when doing things that put stress on your joints and during activities that cause pain.
Is the brace suitable for sports?
Generally, yes. Water and contact sports are an exception, however. These types of sports should be avoided to prevent placing your fellow players at risk of injury.
What shoes should I wear with the Agilium Freestep?
We recommend sturdy footwear that extends a maximum of 5 cm above the ankle, ideally with a removable inner sole. Hiking sandals are also suitable. However, shoes with a heel should generally be avoided if you have osteoarthritis.
How will I be able to tell that the brace is helping me?
The brace helps to relieve pain. This can increase your mobility and enable you to walk for longer or cover greater distances.
Why can’t the brace slip?
The brace is worn in your shoe, which guarantees a secure hold. The brace is also fixed to the leg with a skin-friendly strap.
