Scott Kilby
I graduated from Salford University in 2002 and my first prosthetic role was at the North Midlands Limb Fitting Centre in Stoke on Trent, working for RSL Steeper. I spent the first five years of my career here, learning a lot about myself, how to be a clinician and how to do so in a small but busy NHS clinic with a varied cohort of end users.
After five years, a new addition to the family, a second on the way and a desire to develop further as a clinician, it was time to move closer to home and in 2007 I moved to work for Blatchford at the Mobility and Specialised Rehabilitation Centre (M&SRC) in Sheffield. During the first few years at the M&SRC, I was able to develop as a prosthetist. The team was larger which gave more opportunity for collaboration and there were many more end users with more complex needs. Also, during that time, I was also able to work in several different centres within the UK and this gave me a broader knowledge base but also a desire to broaden my horizons. In 2009 I became Assistant Manager at the M&SRC. And in 2013 I joined a small team of clinicians and technicians who were tasked with developing the Blatchford Orthotic product range through CADCAM. I was also tasked with the development of a system for clinical prosthetics which I then had to train, and which led a year or so later to me taking up a Training and Education role.
In 2018 I decided it was time for a change “a new horizon” and I joined the Ottobock UK Academy. That was a great decision, it has allowed me to work for a great company, with great people and with life changing products including Kenevo, C-Leg 4, Genium X3 and many others. And as an Academy Clinician I see first-hand just what our products do to allow end users the opportunity to live life on their terms, while supporting you to get the best outcome for your end users and I look forward to meeting you or seeing you again in the future.
