WalkOn Reaction plus

People with permanent dorsiflexor weakness depend on a medical aid that lifts their foot while walking.

This is precisely what the WalkOn Reaction plus does. It helps lift the foot during the swing phase, so that the gait becomes safer while the risk of stumbling and falling is reduced. The tip of the foot no longer gets caught as easily on small obstacles or uneven ground.

Like the WalkOn Reaction, the WalkOn Reaction plus also supports the knee joint thanks to its special design, but offers an even higher degree of stiffness. When the foot lowering musculature is impaired as well, you benefit from the high energy return of the orthosis, which is activated during the rollover motion of the foot. You walk more naturally again.

Lower leg shell with shin pad

The shin pad is on the lower leg shell. It can be easily applied to the leg with a hook-and-loop closure. You benefit from improved hygiene and a high level of comfort.

Frontal support element

Thanks to its frontal support element, the WalkOn Reaction plus not only lifts the foot but also supports the knee joint.

Foot component

The foot component ensures that the user can flexibly roll over their foot while walking.

Benefits at a glance

WalkOn Reaction plus – power to get you moving again

Walk more naturally

The WalkOn Reaction plus promotes a largely physiological gait. Depending on your current phase in the gait cycle, knee extension and flexion are supported by the special structure (frontal support element) of the orthosis – even when your activity level increases and you require greater support for knee extension. Your gait pattern becomes smoother.

Fewer compensating movements

Compensating movements can lead to signs of wear. The WalkOn Reaction plus can reduce these through its high energy return. You walk more symmetrically, because the orthosis stores energy at heel strike and releases it again during the rollover movement of the foot.

Enhanced safety

Your safety is increased because the WalkOn Reaction plus supports and lifts your foot in the swing phase as you walk. The risk of catching the tip of your foot, for example on carpet edges or uneven ground, is reduced.

Use regular footwear

The orthosis fits in any shoe that provides support. You only need to make sure that the shoe has a reinforced heel. To put on the orthosis, position the WalkOn Reaction plus in the shoe and then slide your foot in.

Lightweight and discreet

The WalkOn Reaction plus is lightweight, slim and discreet under clothing. A shin pad makes it even more comfortable for you.

Robust and durable

The WalkOn Reaction plus is especially robust. It has proven its durability in tests and long-term functional testing.

FAQS

Answers for you

How do I put on the WalkOn Reaction plus?

We recommend that you place the orthosis into the shoe first and then insert your foot. Then you can simply fasten the hook-and-loop closures.

Can I drive a car with the WalkOn Reaction plus?

We can’t make any general statements regarding this. You must be able to safely control any vehicle for which you require a driving licence and insurance or which is used in traffic. Your ability to drive with a WalkOn Reaction plus should be determined on an individual basis. You are required to observe national and state laws.

Can I get extra pads for the WalkOn Reaction plus?

Replacement pads can of course be ordered through your orthotist. He or she adapts the pads for you personally to ensure they fit.

How do I care for the WalkOn Reaction plus?

The orthosis should be wiped regularly using water and a mild cleaning agent. All pads and closures are combined, and all textile components can be washed and replaced. We recommend washing the pad at least twice a week (machine washable at 40°C).

Is it possible to play sports with the WalkOn Reaction plus?

Yes, in fact it is recommended that you are active. Speak to your orthotist to get their advice on which sports are the most beneficial and how to make the best use of your orthosis. You should however avoid extreme and abrupt movements.

Do I need a special shoe for the WalkOn Reaction plus?

No, but you should select a sturdy shoe with a reinforced heel. It is important that the orthosis fits firmly so that it moves as little as possible. We also recommend a heel height of 10 mm; alternatively this can be determined by your technician. An additional pair of shoes should of course have the same heel height.

That is precisely what the WalkOn does. It helps lift the foot during the swing phase, so that the gait becomes safer again while the risk of stumbling and falling is reduced. The tip of the foot no longer gets caught as easily on small obstacles or uneven ground.

The ankle foot orthosis is made of a modern carbon fibre prepreg material which is very lightweight. There is a carbon fibre spring at the back that extends from the Achilles tendon to the calf. For users with residual musculature, the WalkOn provides support while walking. At toe-off the orthosis releases previously stored energy so that walking becomes smoother. The ankle joint is stabilised at the same time.
