Varos. Right from the start

The Varos socket is a socket solution that benefits transfemoral amputees starting in the rehabilitation phase as well as later during treatment with the final prosthesis.
One key advantage is the option to independently adapt the socket circumference to fluctuations in the volume of the residual limb and to everyday activities by simply turning the closure – exactly as needed. This offers numerous benefits in therapy and everyday life, from an enhanced feeling of safety to the potential for better movement control.

The Varos liner was developed to be compatible with the Varos socket. Contact between the Varos liner and fabric adhesive strips in the socket also results in a good adhesion mechanism for a secure hold in the socket – and the magnetic distal connector in the liner makes it even stronger. Plus, pressure distribution provided by the liner ensures good wearer comfort. The Varos socket can be fabricated in significantly less time than a conventional socket.

Thanks to the BOA Fit System, the socket circumference can be adjusted independently and at any time. This can be necessary if there are fluctuations in the residual limb volume, or to suit a particular activity. In this way, the sense of safety can be directly influenced.

The 6Y200 Varos liner was developed especially for the Varos socket and features an excellent hold in the socket. Its textile cover adheres extremely well to the fabric adhesive strips on the inner wall of the socket. If necessary, the fabric adhesive strips can be replaced by stronger plastic adhesive strips. Plus, the liner has a magnetic connector to the socket at the distal end to provide an even better hold. The liner offers a high level of comfort.

The Varos socket is suitable for the treatment of transfemoral amputees, regardless of the mobility grade. It is suitable for patients with unilateral and bilateral amputations. The shape of the residual limb should be conical or cylindrical, without any skin changes or pronounced scarring with invagination. Furthermore, the prosthesis wearer should not have paraesthesia and must have adequate dexterity to operate the handwheels of the BOA Fit System.

It varies. We know for certain that a prosthesis with the Varos considerably reduces both the number of visits required for prosthetic fitting and their duration. Fittings with conventional sockets generally require up to six appointments, while fittings with the Varos socket require only two or so. The total fitting time required for conventional sockets is about 32 hours, while fittings with the Varos only take about three hours.

6Y200Liner

Varos liner

The 6Y200 Varos liner forms a functional unit with the 5A60 Varos socket. The liner distributes the pressure on the residual limb. Contact of the liner with fabric adhesive strips in the socket and the distal magnetic connector result in especially good adhesion in the socket. The 6Y200 Varos liner and 5A60 Varos socket must be ordered separately.
