Myo Plus TR

Myo Plus is Ottobock’s advanced pattern recognition system, designed to give users more control, more confidence, and less cognitive strain when using their prosthesis. With Myo Plus, users benefit from:

• Intuitive Control: By linking natural phantom limb movements to prosthetic functions, users reduce their cognitive load and improve day-to-day usability.
• Direct, Seamless Access: Switching between grip patterns is instantaneous and doesn’t require external inputs, making multitasking and quick reactions easier.
• Enhanced Proportional Control: Users define their own muscle signals, allowing for precise control over speed, grip strength, and finger movement.

As of April 1, 2025, The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved the addition of L6700, a dedicated reimbursement code for pattern recognition control systems used in myoelectric prostheses. This decision marks a historic moment for clinicians, patients, and the evolution of upper limb prosthetic technology.

The Myo Plus TR pattern recognition system by Ottobock received FDA clearance in September 2019 and is the most innovative control device for trans-radial myo-electric users.

Myo Plus pattern recognition provides intuitive and individualized control by mapping a user’s unique muscle patterns and translating them directly into various movements of the prosthesis. For example, if the user thinks of opening his/her hand and activates the physiologic muscles used for that task, the system immediately translates these signals to open the prosthetic hand or terminal device. This innovative control is considerably easier to master, eliminates the need for switching events and improves speed and proportional control.
