The speedhand features a unique spring-loaded wrist option, the flexion wrist, gives users a greater degree of freedom and can reduce compensatory movements in many everyday tasks, as well as improving body posture. The addition of the wrist lock at five different increments gives users added security for more complex movements.

myosmart

myosmart is the latest edition to our pattern recognition product family that can be fitted to both above and below elbow users. With up to four electrodes, the system learns your individual movements and switching signals, and delivers smoother, more intuitive control with less effort. Powered by advanced signal processing and machine learning algorithms, myosmart offers user-defined proportional control, enhancing precision and responsiveness. Using AI to recognise switching signals even during active EMG use, enabling seamless transitions between functions like wrist rotation and grip adjustment. Bridging the gap between standard control and full pattern recognition, myosmart offers a "Pattern Recognition Lite" experience. It brings many benefits of advanced systems like MyoPlus, such as controlling individual grips or or adjusting wrist movements, with less training time and a more accessible user experience.

For clinicians and new users, connectgrip offers powerful support tools. It translates muscle signals into a dynamic visual display of the user’s myoelectric activity, helping identify signal hotspots and guide training with greater precision. With clear visual feedback, you can optimise electrode placement during set up, support early signal training, and build understanding, confidence and excitement, while customising the hand to each users needs. The app enables a guided fitting process and enables users to adapt the prosthesis behaviour to suit their daily routine.

FAQs

What users often want to know about the speedhand solution.

Every user is unique, learning at their own pace and with different needs, motivations, and training intensity to the process. Successful operation of the speedhand will depends on these individual factors. Under optimal conditions, the prosthesis can be integrated into daily use after a couple of months approximately.

The connectgrip app allows you to make various adjustments yourself and experiment with them without losing the settings previously made by your Prosthetist.

The speedhand is a state-of-the-art myoelectric-controlled prosthesis. It operates using 2 to 4 non-invasive surface sensors (electrodes) that contact the skin. These sensors detect residual muscle activity in the limb, allowing users to voluntarily open or close the hand. In combination with the connectgrip app, the control is customised to each user's muscle signals. This not only enables reliable and personalised opening and closing of the hand but also bending and extending of the elbow, as well as optional additional functions.

The speedhand can be used by those with both above and below the elbow amputations or dysmelia, either with unilateral or bilateral amputations. Thanks to the short build height even those with longer residual limbs can benefit from the speedhand. It can be integrated into either a new or existing socket. A fitting will include all the components integrated into a customised socket and the correct settings for the hand, which will be adjusted by your prosthetist.

The speedhand is available at your local NHS Limb Centre or Clinic as well as private Clinics throughout the UK. An initial test can be performed easily and without a test socket using the myosmart cuff – a flexible arm cuff – in combination with trial products. If you already have a prosthesis, both the connectgrip app and the speedhand can be seamlessly integrated and thoroughly tested. The connectgrip app offers individually tailored control, customised to your needs and capabilities. It visualises muscle signals through biofeedback and allows you to independently adjust parameters such as speed and muscle tension. Additionally, you can create your own motion recordings to compensate for unwanted prosthetic behavior. The neutral position of the speedhand can also be individually adjusted to achieve a more natural appearance.
