What is required for SiOCX orders?

  1. Plaster positive mold or well-fitting test or definitive socket (following Custom Silicone General Casting Instructions) with the following identifications:

    1. Electrode position and location

    2. Adapter

    3. Connection between inner and outer socket

    4. Position, size, and thickness of any soft tissue pads

  2. Completed SiOCX TR or SiOCX TR Flex order form

Considerations

  • Residual Limb Maturity: SiOCX material cannot be adjusted (no heating/flaring, trimming, etc.) therefore a mature limb with stable shape and volume is required.

  • Fabrication Time: SiOCX fabrication is completed in Canada. Due to curing times and international customs processing, expedited fabrication time is not possible. Please plan for approximately 6-8 weeks for job completion.

What is the process for SiOCX orders?

After the initial order, this is the process to follow for completion:

The prosthetist sends a plaster positive or a well-fitting test or definitive socket to Otto Bock Service Fabrication. The position of the electrodes, adapter, connection between the inner and outer socket and the position, size and thickness of any soft tissue pads must be identified on the plaster positive. A completed order form is required for additional information.

The individual HTV silicone inner socket is fabricated by Otto Bock Service Fabrication according to the information provided by the prosthetist. The inner socket is supplied for an interim trial fitting along with a hard foam casting form and hand adapter.

This allows the shape, position, and length of the prosthesis to be precisely determined. Then the prosthetist returns the silicone inner socket with the hard foam casting form and hand adapter to Otto Bock Service Fabrication.

The prosthetist receives the definitive SiOCX TR socket. Otto Bock Service Fabrication can also deliver the SiOCX TR socket as a fully assembled prosthesis if desired.
