Upper Limb Test Sockets

An upper limb amputated patient consulting with their Certified Prosthetist Orthotist (CPO)

For temporary use during the initial diagnostic fitting to evaluate:

  • Skin color

  • Volume/distal contact

  • Length

  • Trim lines

  • Range of motion

  • Suspension

  • A/P comfort under load

Several materials are available to choose from, including:

  • ThermoLyn Soft Clear: Flexibility accommodates standard myo or Myo Plus test fittings (remote electrodes). Choosing the clear option allows visualization for test socket fittings.

  • ThermoLyn Stiff/Rigid: Traditional, clear test socket with high strength and fracture resistance

  • ThermoLyn Clear: Most optically clear, heat moldable, rigid

What is required for an upper limb test socket?

  1. A positive plaster mold with all modifications completed

  2. Clearly marked trim lines

  3. Clearly marked alignment lines

    2. Valves (non-Ottobock valves must be shipped with mold)

    3. Lock/Lanyard adapters

  5. Material choice

  6. Completed order form
