Trial Prostheses

After the test socket is determined to fit appropriately, it can be helpful to do a trial attachment to the wrist, elbow and/or shoulder. All componentry can then be attached, which allows for:
Alignment: Assessment of socket, componentry, and overall length measurements
If adjustments need to be made in these areas, this temporary set up allows for corrections to be made prior to definitive fabrication.
EMG signals: Strength and separation with additional weight of componentry
Verify location and positioning of electrodes
Suspension: Verification of range of motion, and controlled socket rotation with the additional weight of all componentry
Optimal Positioning: Placement of additional components, such as
Battery charging port / power switch
External switches
Valves
Control Scheme: Verification of componentry access, operation, and proper programming
Donning/doffing: Techniques and range of motion.
